Downtown Bass Anglers of Durham Region

It’s been a while since we did an update, and since we’re 14 days from our next tourney, I figured it’s about time.

Downtown Bass would like to welcome new members Kim & Brian Thompson, Jeff MacLeod, Peter Schiener, and Corrado Ingarao.

Our second tournament of the year was held on Dalrymple Lake, May 9th, 2009. This was a new lake for DTBA, and Northern Pike was the target for the day. Three fish limits were easily come by and based on the feedback; everyone had a great day fishing this new lake. A great starting point to build on for next year. Congrats to Shawn Towner and BJ Noddle for their first place finish and to everyone else as well. Check the website for complete details and the up to date AOY standings as well.

Our May 11th, meeting was highly anticipated, and we were not disappointed. Jocelyn Leung from Angling Outfitters dropped by to give our members a little lesson on fishfinders. Talk about information overload! This was by far; one of the best meetings to date, from attendance to participation, the feedback from the guys was great. We definitely will try to get Jos back again. I filmed the meeting and hope to get it up on the website shortly. DTB will also work with Jos to do a bulk order for the road chips that Jos spoke about. If you’re interested, I’ll be taking $30 deposits for the map chip at our next meeting.

Speaking of our next meeting, Monday June 8th, our guest speakers will be none other than club members Harrison Sillen and Jay Martin. Should be a great meeting!

Being off since September and job hunting like crazy, I’ve had a ton of downtime. I’ve spent some time volunteering at different local fishing related events. Events such as Huck Finn Day in Uxbridge, Shimano Take A Kid Fishing in Guelph, AYA in Port Perry, later this month Catch A Dream Fishing Derby, and Northumberland Big Brothers & Sisters Event in July. If you haven’t had a chance to attend any one of these events, do so! I’ve had a ton of fun, they have been an extremely positive experience, well run, and it’s great karma to support the sport we love. Hopefully I’ll see you at Catch A Dream!

Launch Site: Captain’s Marina

Blast off: 7:30 AM, Weight-In 3:00 PM

Cost: $40.00

There may be a $7 launch fee!

We will forward that info with directions to the Tournament Anglers.

Registration Deadline is Monday Jun8th, 9:00 PM.

Please let me know if you are a Boater or Non-Boater.

All Early Bird entrants must confirm as well please.

For non early bird entrants, please complete the attached form and bring it to the tourney.

In the event of a last minute cancellation, we do reserve the right ensure that everyone has a great day fishing.

Remember, our tourney jerseys are in, so if you haven’t picked up yours yet, they’re here. I’ll also have some T-shirts as well. The last order for T-shirts is going in today, so if you're interested, let meknow ASAP.
